Задание:

Teacher studies this rule together with learners. Passive Voice

Subject – Verb – Object is called Active Voice. However, sometimes the subject and the object can trade places. This is called the Passive Voice.

Active Voice: The dog bit the cat. Passive Voice: The cat was bitten by the dog.

Active Voice: John wrote this novel. Passive Voice: This novel was written by John.

To use the Passive Voice, you say: Object + [Be Verb + Past Participle] + by + Subject *Remember: the Be Verbs are am, is, are, was, and were. *The passive voice is usually past tense.

These sentences are in the Active Voice. Rewrite them using the Passive Voice. Example:

1. The dog ate the food. The food was eaten by the dog.

2. The car hit John. _____________________________________________

3. Jenny wrote the letter. _________________________________________

4. Julie answered the question. ____________________________________

5. That boy stole the money. ______________________________________

6. Many children took the test. ____________________________________

7. Several people watched the new movie. ___________________________

8. The poor children used the free computers. ________________________

Решение:

1. The food was eaten by the dog.

 

2. John was hit by the car.

 

3. The letter was written by Jenny.

 

4. «E.T.» was directed by Steven Spielberg.

 

5. The question was answered by Julie.

 

6. The money were stolen. (можно дописать by the boy, но обычно, если не важно, кто это сделал, то есть без имени, а просто мальчик, то не пишется, но если напишешь, ошибкой не будет).

 

7. Some trees has been planted (опять же,

 

можно дописать by gardener). 8. The test was taken (by children).

 

9. The new movie was watched (by several people).

 

10. «Twelfth Night» was written by Shakespeare.
