that they should have the same rights as humans, while others argue that humans must employ
animals to satisfy their various needs, including uses for food and research. Discuss both views
and give your opinion.
Discussing ‘Two Opinions’
In this essay you are being given two opposing opinions to discuss.
This is the first opinion:
Animals should not be exploited by people and they should have the same rights as humans.
This is the second opinion:
Humans must employ animals to satisfy their various needs, including uses for food and research.
In this type of essay, you must look at both sides. In other words you need to discuss the
arguments FOR animal rights and AGAINST. You must also ensure you give YOUR opinion. Be
aware of Common Mistakes in Intro Paragraphs
Often learners start writing their introductory paragraph using very general statements. This results
in: 1) statements that are hackneyed and do not attract the reader’s attention;
2) statements that do not provide a roadmap to where the thesis is headed. Think twice before
starting an introductory paragraph.
Grammar: Use simple perfect and perfect continuous active and passive forms

The animal world of our planet is very diverse. It counts from one and a half to two million species. And this is just the beginning! What can we say about the number of living beings. By the way, it is not possible to calculate this, too many numbers are obtained. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of classifications of living organisms in the world today. But not all of them are simple and clear. For example, according to one of the most famous scientific classifications, man belongs to the Eukaryote domain, the Animal kingdom, the Chordate type, the Mammalian class, the Primate order, the Hominid family, the genus Humans. And these are only the main ranks, and between them there are many more intermediate ones, which are almost three times more than the main ones. These are various subtypes, superclasses, subclasses, suborders, and the like. In general, it is very informative, but incomprehensible. However, it is used by many, so it would be very nice to understand it.
